Looking for a place to connect with your local community and expand your horizons? The Lewisville Public Library, located at 1197 W. Main Street, is hosting a series of educational and creative events this October for all age groups. The library invites you to participate in various activities, from making zines to exploring the world of genealogy online.

Teens in Lewisville have the chance to voice their thoughts and get crafty. For those between 13 and 18, the library is organizing a Teen Zine Party on Oct. 14 from 1-3 p.m. in the Bennett Program Room. According to the City of Lewisville events page, attendees will "learn how to create self-published, easily reproduced, printed form of self-expression," including a collaborative project. Registration is required, and while prompts and supplies are provided, participants are encouraged to bring items such as magazines and personal photos for this hands-on workshop.

The library has a special program for kids aged 9-12. On Oct. 16, from 4:30-5:30 p.m., the Tween Scene event will feature Shrinky Dink Art, where kids can combine science and creativity. They’ll get to turn plastic into personalized art, as mentioned in the library's announcement. Since attendance is ticketed, arriving early is recommended.

The library hosts a virtual genealogy fair for adults in the community on Oct. 18 from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. This online event will feature eight speakers who are experts in tracing family history. Those interested should register soon, as access links will be emailed to attendees.
