Local law enforcement agencies in Larimer County cracked down on aggressive driving behaviors. The Fort Collins Police, Colorado State Patrol, and the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office were active on the streets, making 129 traffic stops, with 40% involving motorcycles. According to the City of Fort Collins, the operation aimed to promote safe driving within the community.
During this high-visibility enforcement surge, three individuals were arrested for DUI, and one was picked up on a warrant. Officers also handed out 44 citations in total. The numbers show the fervor of this operation, but what stands out is the high rate of speed one driver was cited,
99 mph in a zone where 55 is the max. Fort Collins Police Chief Jeff Swoboda sternly reminded residents in a statement obtained by the city's news post that such speeds are neither acceptable nor legal.
"Nowhere within city limits or Larimer County is ninety-nine miles per hour an acceptable or legal driving speed," said Chief Swoboda, as per the City of Fort Collins. His message was clear Fort CDrtaikestand for driving that endangers its citizens. He also praised the collaborative efforts between the forces, emphasizing how these operations serve as a force-multiplying factor in the fight against traffic violations.
