Early Saturday morning, a Dodge Durango slammed into a Racine group home, leaving four residents without shelter. The incident occurred near 16th and Indiana, around 2:15 a.m., as reported by FOX 6. Police found the vehicle embedded within the structure upon arrival, while the 61-year-old female resident, along with both vehicle occupants—a 39-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman—were injured and later taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Following the crash, the American Red Cross was called in to help the displaced individuals find alternate housing. The group home owner, Darius Young, faced with the sudden displacement of his residents, told WISN, "I have residents who now have no place to go. They were in shock, we are all in shock I mean a situation like this will hurt anybody." The driver, released from the hospital, was arrested and faces multiple charges, including two counts of Reckless Endangering Safety and two counts of Reckless Driving - Causing Injury.

This recent crash was the third of such incidents to plague Racine in a span of days. On Thursday, before the group home incident, a 31-year-old man crashed into a vacant house, as documented by CBS58. Then, adding strain to the community yesterday morning, a vehicle struck a house at the intersection of Spring Street and Freese Avenue, resulting in neighbors being evacuated due to a ruptured gas meter and a substantial leak.

Neighborhood resident Kerry Dzindzeleta, living near the group home, offered a glimpse of the aftermath, as she shared with CBS58, “It was very clear when I got up Saturday morning that the crews were already here cleaning up the mess.” Police investigations are ongoing, and More details on the circumstances leading up to the crashes have yet to be released.
