In the ongoing unrest within the Harford County school board post the tragic shooting at Joppatowne High School, calls for Vice President Melissa Hahn's removal from her position have intensified. During a recent gathering, board members proposed a motion addressing her conduct regarding Superintendent Sean Bulson's leadership, as per CBS News Baltimore. The contention centers around Hahn's public calls for Bulson's resignation, which many on the board found inappropriate, preferring such matters to be handled privately.
Amidst the meeting that was already in motion, board member Carol Mueller introduced an impromptu motion to deliberate on the removal of Hahn from her role as vice president. Although Hahn retains her seat on the board, the decision on her vice presidency was deferred. "She's supposed to be leadership of the board, and she has (called) two meetings in a row called for the principal to resign in the public, We're his the employer, right, I mean, the board employs the superintendent so you don't go your employer doesn't go tell you to resign in front of a crowd of people. That's not the way employee relationships are handled, so if she supposed to be our leader, she shouldn't be doing something like that without consulting us, and she shouldn't be doing in public," Mueller stated in the session, as reported by WBAL-TV.
Hahn, who was attending the meeting virtually due to caring for an ill relative expressed her dismay at the board's actions. "I just wanted to take a moment and say that I'm really disappointed and disgusted that, in my absence due to a family emergency, some members feel that it is necessary to make a motion to remove me as VP. This is the type of manipulative behavior that is unacceptable. And it is exactly the type of issues that myself and other members of this board have been dealing with since becoming a member of this board," Hahn articulated during the board member's comments, as per WBAL-TV.
