An alleged street racing incident turned disastrous for an unsuspecting BMW owner in South Los Angeles on Friday night when their newly purchased vehicle was struck by a reckless driver evading the California Highway Patrol (CHP). FOX LA reported that the driver of a silver sedan, clocked at over 100 mph by the CHP and SkyFOX, collided with the BMW at Firestone Boulevard and South Alameda Street before crashing into a parked vehicle and narrowly avoiding a 7-Eleven store.
Further complications arose as the pursuit played out in East Los Angeles where the suspect in question led police on a high-speed chase, one that minutes after narrowly evading disaster, careened into another vehicle and then into a small brick wall outside the same 7-Eleven, according to coverage by CBS News Los Angeles. The CHP detailed the chase, at points reaching a harrowing 120 miles per hour on the 210 Freeway. In a dramatic twist, the vehicle, an Infiniti sedan, lost control at the intersection of S. Alameda Street and Firestone Boulevard.
The suspects from the chase were taken into custody after a short on-foot pursuit. The police located one of the individuals, believed to be the driver, lying face down on the sidewalk at Grape Street and Firestone Boulevard, as per additional details from the CBS News.
