Early this morning, the Houston Fire Department responded to what escalated to a two-alarm fire at a West Houston apartment complex, as nearly 30 vehicles were found engulfed in flames. According to a Houston Chronicle report, the blaze broke out in the parking structure near the 2400 block of Yorktown Street, prompting a swift reaction from first responders.
While tackling the car fire initially reported as a singular incident, firefighters arrived to be met with a scene indicating a much larger emergency, with close to 20 vehicles alight. After calling for additional support, the number of affected vehicles grew closer to 30, a fact confirmed by the Houston Fire Department's social media update. The source of the fire remains unclear, and arson investigators have been brought in, as reported by the Houston Fire Department's PIO, to weave through the testimonies of locals, property owners, and any witnesses.
