A 19-year-old suspect has been slapped with charges in connection with a shooting that rocked Harrisburg Boulevard on the afternoon of October 9. The Houston Police Department named Brandon Alexander Munoz, charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, in an official statement released earlier today, with a photograph of the suspect, who remains at large. The shooting injured a 40-year-old man who was carrying out a repossession task and is now recovering in hospital, described as critical but stable.
The encounter unfolded just before 3 p.m., when an off-duty officer bore witness to the violence, tracking a vehicle tied to the incident and allowing uniformed officers to swoop in, halt the vehicle, and detain its three passengers, according to a Houston Police Department news release. The detained individuals asserted they feared a theft in progress, targeting their van, which prompted the discharge of a firearm that sent projectiles tearing into the victim.
Following consultations with the Harris County District Attorney's Office, police pieced together the narrative surrounding the clash, entwined with the rights and wrongs of property, of ownership, the perilous profession of repossession perceived as theft by the shooters, the investigation then culminated in charges against Munoz on October 22, even as the hunt for him continues.
Indeed, the search intensifies for Munoz, with authorities urging the community to come forward with any scrap of information that might hasten his apprehension, interested individuals can reach out to the HPD Eastside Patrol Division at 832-395-1580 or whisper secrets to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
