
Tragedy struck on Fondren Road yesterday evening as a young man's life was claimed in a vehicular collision. Houston police have been actively investigating the incident, which transpired at approximately 5:10 p.m. in the 6100 block of Fondren Road, where a red Suzuki motorcycle and a blue Cherokee Jeep collided, according to an official statement from the City of Houston.
Details are still emerging but what's evident is the devastating outcome: the motorcyclist, a 23-year-old male whose name has yet to be released pending family notification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, perished after the collision. He was reportedly traveling northbound at a high speed, when the Jeep, attempting a left turn onto Fondren was struck. HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant V. Vo and Officer F. Serna, were among the first to report details of the calamity.
Rescue efforts by the Houston Fire Department saw the victim promptly transported to a nearby hospital, yet, despite their best efforts, he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Jeep, whose identity has not been disclosed, cooperated with the law enforcement at the scene, demonstrated no signs of impairment and, was subsequently released after questioning.
