
Early this morning, at approximately 2:05 a.m., Houston police began their investigation into a tragic hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of a 32-year-old male pedestrian. Occurring at 11200 Northwest Freeway, on the service road of U.S. Highway 290, the identity of the victim is still being determined, pending verification from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, City of Houston News reports.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division's Sergeant D. Rose and Officer S. Bouarar, were on scene to investigate. A witness provided them with a harrowing account, stating they saw the man lying in a moving lane, and it was unclear how or why he was there, according to the statement obtained by the City of Houston News. The sequence of events took a turn for the worse when a white Chevrolet Malibu struck the man and continued driving without stopping to offer assistance.
Emergency medical technicians arrived shortly thereafter but were unable to save the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene. As authorities continue their search for the driver of the Chevrolet Malibu, they are calling upon the public for assistance.
Law enforcement is urging those with information related to the driver or the involved vehicle to come forward. Individuals who can help are asked to contact the HPD Hit and Run Unit at 713-247-4072.
