Residents of Howard County are being beckoned to join the Department of Public Works at a community outreach meeting concerning traffic calming measures for Furnace Avenue and Hanover Road. Slated for Tuesday, October 29th from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m., this engagement session will unfold in the Hockley Room at the Howard County Library System's Elkridge branch, a public notice states.
Keeping in stride with the County's enhanced Howard County Neighborhood Traffic Calming Policy, this new initiative aims to curb excessive speeding and to bolster transportation safety. "Neighborhood traffic calming is an important part of our efforts to ensure greater safety and accessibility on residential roadways across our community," Howard County Executive Calvin Ball iterated. He disclosed an additional $500,000 had been funneled into the project earlier this year, underscoring the community-oriented approach.
Howard County's DPW staff will be present to unpack the proposed traffic calming design and construction plans, respond to queries, and solicit feedback from public. This gathering is a crucial point of contact for residents to voice their concerns and preferences regarding the effects of the implementation on their daily commutes and neighborhood safety.
For those unable to attend, or wishing a prior glimpse at the plans, inquiries can be directed to DPW's Traffic Engineer, Ms. Natasha Aidoo, via phone at 410-313-2430 or through her email [email protected].
