Kyle Langlois, the Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Sterling Heights, has recently leveled up to president-elect of the prestigious Michigan Recreation and Park Association (mParks), stepping into a significant role that will shape parks and recreation across the state. The city itself couldn't be prouder, as Langlois prepares to embark on a two-year term leading up to becoming mParks president from 2026 to 2028. His upcoming presidency also earns him a spot on the mParks board of directors, where he'll be a key player in promoting initiatives that enhance Michigan's green spaces.
Langlois isn't new to positions of influence within mParks, having served diligently as the Public Policy chair over the past three years. In this capacity, he's worked hand-in-glove with elected officials to champion important funding, legislation, and public support aimed at boosting park services for everyone in Michigan, according to a press release from the City of Sterling Heights.
On a more local level, Langlois has been instrumental in transforming the parks system within Sterling Heights. His "Recreating Recreation" initiative has been a game-changer, introducing an ice rink, skate park, splash pad, and other community-centered amenities that have directly improved the city's livability. According to Sterling Heights Mayor Michael Taylor, as per the City of Sterling Heights, "Sterling Heights is fortunate to have some of the best in the field, and his work with mParks will ensure that communities across the state benefit from the same level of excellence."
