
The Los Angeles Police Department is actively seeking information in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident that claimed the life of a 45-year-old man. According to an official report published on the LAPD website, the collision occurred on the evening of July 19, 2024, around 11:35 p.m., while the victim was crossing Venice Boulevard at Oak Street.
Per the LAPD's account, a dark-colored Honda Accord, estimated to be a model from between 2002 and 2007, struck the pedestrian and proceeded to quickly flee the scene. The car, said to have oxidized paint, black hub caps, and blue dim lights, did not stop to provide assistance or identify themselves following the collision. In an effort to urgently locate the suspect, Investigator David Chung of the LAPD's Central Traffic Division is reaching out to the community for any leads. Following the incident, the Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics were dispatched to the scene, where they pronounced the pedestrian deceased. The LAPD is now enlisting the public's assistance in a bid to not just track down the driver of the Honda Accord but also to seek justice for the victim of the tragic accident. The LAPD also reminds the public of the serious nature of leaving the scene of an accident and the potential consequences of such actions.
The city of Los Angeles has measures in place to encourage people to report hit-and-run offenses, including a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund, established by the City Council in 2015. This programme offers a reward of up to $50,000 for information that can help to definitely lead to the identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise of the offender.
