As October begins, League City is focusing on more than just the arrival of fall. Mayor Nick Long has declared the month a time to raise awareness and take action against domestic violence, according to a release on the League City official website.
This decision highlights the city's commitment to addressing a widespread issue. Mayor Long's proclamation was well-received by local advocacy groups, including the Resource and Crisis Center of Galveston County and Bay Area Turning Point.
Mayor Long and League City are dedicated to raising awareness and offering tangible support to survivors and their families. On October 24, a candlelight vigil will take place at the local police department at 555 West Walker Street, welcoming all community members to honor resilience, remember those lost, and strengthen community unity. Attendees are encouraged to bring hygiene products to benefit local shelters, as shared by League City officials.
