Long Beach authorities have reported a series of arrests in connection with a spate of robberies that targeted minors in May 2024. The Long Beach Police Department disclosed details of the investigation that led to these apprehensions, in which young victims were forcibly stripped of their necklaces in broad daylight before the perpetrators escaped in a waiting vehicle.
The breakthrough came after an initial robbery prompted a local community member to come forward with information. This tip proved crucial, aiding detectives to piece together the puzzle and link the string of crimes. Subsequently, three suspects have been taken into custody after the law enforcement's relentless pursuit. "Robbery detectives canvased and collected video evidence, contacted community members, and followed all investigative leads," the official statement read.
As detailed by the Long Beach Police Department, arrests included 21-year-old Marissa Maxie from Carson, who faces two counts of robbery and conspiracy after being arrested on August 13, and two 17-year-old male suspects. One was apprehended in Lakewood on September 10 with six robbery counts to his name, while the other, arrested in Long Beach on October 3, is linked to five incidents of robbery.
As these cases are now with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office for filing consideration, the police are still welcoming further information from the public.
