In Long Beach, a series of incidents on the night of October 15 and into the early morning of October 16 have kept the local police department busy, including two reports of no-hit shootings and the standoff with a felony suspect.

The first incident, a no-hit shooting at about 9:55 p.m. near Lakewood Boulevard and Stearns Street, ended without injury or concrete evidence. Officers who arrived on the scene spoke with a male adult who was unhurt, and the suspect(s) were gone before officers had the chance to secure the location, according to the Long Beach Police Department's official website.

Hours later, another no-hit shooting was reported in the 1300 block of Del Rey Court around 3:04 a.m. Officers this time located evidence of gunfire, but no individuals were injured. Again, the suspects had fled the scene, leaving investigators to pursue leads on suspect information and the motive behind the shooting.

A tense situation prompted the presence of SWAT in the 6500 block of Walkerton Street earlier that evening. Andrew Francis Fees, a suspect wanted for felony vandalism, barricaded himself inside a residence, as detailed by the Long Beach Police Department'. He surrendered after SWAT intervention and was charged with obstructing a peace officer, in addition to his felony warrant. His bail is set at $50,000, forming another layer to an active week for Long Beach law enforcement.

Among other successes, Long Beach officers retrieved two guns while responding to activity on the 6100 block of Atlantic Avenue at 1:44 a.m. Two suspects at the scene were found to be prohibited possessors and were arrested.
