
A brush fire ignited in Hacienda Heights, presenting a threat to homes in the region on Friday afternoon, FOX LA reports. The conflagration, which broke out in the 17200 block of Colima Road, was met by the swift response of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Officials have noted the fire's expansion to roughly five acres before containment measures were successful, although wind conditions created an unfavorable environment for firefighting efforts, as noted by CBS News. The region was under a red flag warning due to dry and windy conditions, which amplified the wildfire risk, and by 2:13 p.m., firefighters were already addressing the fire, aerial footage depicted a significant amount of smoke emanating from the area.
Per an update from the L.A. County Fire Department, the forward progress of the brush fire was stopped at 4:37 p.m., confining it to 4.2 acres as efforts from both air and ground contingents mitigated the risk to structures, the fire's cause remains unknown which the investigation into its origination continues amidst the recent events.
