A fire broke out in a Harvard Heights apartment building on the afternoon of October 4th, prompting a response from the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD). The LAFD alerted the public to the incident at 3170 W Olympic Bl at 03:29 p.m. in a statement. The preliminary reports described the building as a seven-story modern apartment with flames in one of the units.
According to an updated LAFD alert, the incident was upgraded to a Greater Alarm Structure Fire. It was reported that the building in question was, in fact, an eight-story structure over parking, contrary to earlier counts. Upon arrival, firefighters navigated the interior stairwells, carrying hoses and equipment to the top floor. A follow-up report mentioned that the efforts took 52 firefighters a total of 29 minutes to access, confine, and extinguish the fire in the unit, with no injuries reported.
The aftermath of the fire led to the LAFD engaging in operations to mitigate any water damage resulting from their suppression efforts. Additionally, the firefighters worked to evacuate smoke that was still lingering within the building. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, as crews remained on scene to ensure the building was secured and to prevent any potential re-ignition.
No injuries were reported, according to LAFD.
