
A man was shot and killed in Compton as he was leaving his home with his mother, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The fatal incident took place on Saturday night in the 800 block of S. Chester Avenue.
Officials reported the shooting after 9:15 p.m., and when deputies arrived, the victim had already been transported to a local hospital by a family member he later succumbed to his injuries sustained from the attack which occurred as a white sedan drove by, fired shots and then quickly vanished from the scene. KTLA and a LASD Nixle alert provided initial reports of the attack.
The victim, whose identity has not been released, was with his mother at the time of the shooting. Details on the suspects remain sparse, but the assailants were last seen in a white sedan travelling southbound, as detailed in the LASD Homicide Bureau's narrative.
