
Authorities are currently investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Sunday afternoon in the Westmont area, just east of Inglewood. As reported by CBS Los Angeles, the incident took place at around 4:30 p.m., and Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies arrived at the 1300 block of 97th Street to find a man dead at the scene, seated inside of a white sedan parked in a driveway.
The victim’s identity has not been released as the investigation proceeds. Despite the presence of eyewitnesses who heard the shooting and described a vehicle speeding away post the incident, specifics on motives or suspects involved were not forthcoming from the officials. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Homicide Bureau is requesting that anyone with information come forward, offering contact via phone at (323) 890-5500 or anonymously through "Crime Stoppers."
Amidst continued efforts to understand the circumstances leading to the man's death, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department stated that the South Los Angeles Station received a call regarding an assault with a deadly weapon at approximately 4:33 p.m. A male Black adult was discovered with gunshot wounds and pronounced deceased at the scene by the Los Angeles County Fire Department, which rendered first aid to no avail.
Detailed information remains scarce, but the investigation is active as detectives seek more leads. "There is no additional information available at this time," the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau acknowledged.
