
A violent encounter at Maple Heights High School has led to two students being hospitalized and one being charged with felonious assault. According to WKYC, the incident transpired during class on Tuesday when one student, pulling a box cutter from his backpack, inflicted wounds on a peer on the forehead and abdomen. The altercation continued with a history of previous fights between the two teens.
Soon after the fight was temporarily halted, the adding of injury to introspection, the student returned with a box cutter from his bookbag and turned the classroom into a crime scene. Both individuals were detained by security and law enforcement, who quickly responded to the scene. According to a statement obtained by FOX8 news, Maple Heights firefighters administered first aid before the victims were transferred to separate hospitals.
The student who suffered cuts to the forehead and abdomen is reportedly in stable condition with injuries deemed non-life-threatening at MetroHealth Medical Center. The other, having sustained a self-inflicted cut on his hand, was described as having "superficial injuries" and received treatment at Cleveland Clinic Marymount Hospital before being held at the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center, according to the Cleveland19 News.

After the emergency, the school was reportedly placed on lockdown for approximately an hour, as mentioned by school officials in a statement emphasizing their commitment to student safety and swift, coordinated response in collaboration with the Maple Heights Police Department.
