The Vegas Golden Knights' captain, Mark Stone, has made headlines by being named the NHL's First Star of the Week. This recognition follows his outstanding performance from October 21 to 27, showcasing both his skills and leadership on the ice.
According to News3LV, Stone's recent accolade comes after a run of games where he tallied multiple points in each outing, emphasizing his offensive prowess. His efforts culminated in the Golden Knights' dominant 6-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings, during which Stone netted his 39th game-winning goal on Tuesday last week.
The Canadian right winger also stood out in a game against the Ottawa Senators, where he recorded two assists. He continued his strong play with another goal and two assists against the San Jose Sharks. These impressive performances have led Stone to an impressive season total of five goals and 13 assists in just 10 games, as detailed by Canadian Sport Scene.
It's not just the offensive statistics that make Stone a standout player. With a +9 rating, he's made contributions across the board, including special teams with seven power-play points. Showing his all-round game, apart from taking charge of the offensive reins, Stone has made his presence felt with six blocked shots and six takeaways, albeit with 13 giveaways.
This is not Stone's first time receiving such recognition; it's the second time he has been named NHL's First Star of the Week. He first earned this honor in March 2021, scoring two goals and assisting on eight others over four games. Stone's consistent performance and leadership are proving invaluable for the Golden Knights as they aim for success this season.
