
A repossession situation turned violent in Union Township, near Mid-Michigan, when a man allegedly opened fire on a tow truck driver who was attempting to repossess his vehicle. The 29-year-old man is facing charges of attempted murder and assault with a dangerous weapon, as reported by WWJ Newsradio.
According to the Isabella County Sheriff's Office, the incident unfolded around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday on South Lincoln Road. It is reported that the suspect was operating a tractor in the roadway when he began to fire a handgun at the tow truck driver. The Sheriff's Office detailed that the suspect's violent reaction quickly pivoted into a police chase, which ended with his arrest at his home. No injuries were reported from the events that took place, stated a MidMichigan Now report.
Further information from ABC12 reveals that a nearby detective and deputy quickly apprehended the man following the shooting, who has not been named pending arraignment. The recovered evidence from the scene included several spent shell casings and the firearm used in the shooting.
After the incident, the suspect was taken to the hospital for a self-inflicted head injury caused by striking his head against a plastic divider inside the patrol car. He was subsequently transferred to the Isabella County Jail to await arraignment.
