A 33-year-old woman was left in serious condition after a hit-and-run incident involving street racing in Milwaukee's Bay View neighborhood earlier yesterday. According to a report by WISN, the collision occurred around 2:30 a.m. near the intersection of Kinnickinnick Avenue and Rusk Avenue, where two vehicles were seen racing. The pedestrian, who was crossing the street, was struck by one of the racing cars, leading both vehicles to flee the scene.
Identified by The Journal Sentinel as Cara Corder, the victim is known as an employee at Vanguard Milwaukee, a popular local bar. Struck while she was near Wiggle Room, another Bay View establishment, Corder was swiftly transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. In support of their injured employee, Vanguard announced a temporary closure yesterday.
In response to the incident, friends and well-wishers of Corder have initiated a GoFundMe campaign to aid in covering her medical expenses, as mentioned in the WISN coverage. Meanwhile, Milwaukee police are actively investigating the crash and are seeking information from the public. Individuals in possession of any details regarding the event have been encouraged to call Milwaukee police at (414) 935-7212 or reach out to Milwaukee Crime Stoppers anonymously at (414) 224-TIPS.
Amid expressions of concern and support, Vanguard conveyed their sentiments on social media, stating that Corder "is loved by everyone," a message also shared by FOX6 News.
