In the wake of Hurricane Helene's devastation in Western North Carolina, local musicians and venues have rallied together to organize multiple benefit concerts aimed at supporting relief efforts. "Music for the Mountains," featuring Old Crow Medicine Show and Friends, Chatham County Line, and BJ Barham from American Aquarium, is slated for October 27 at Raleigh's Red Hat Amphitheater. According to a recent article on the City of Raleigh website, all proceeds from ticket sales are to directly benefit The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina, dedicated to helping those impacted by the hurricane.
The Triangle region is witnessing an influx of musical support, with Sturgill Simpson hosting a special benefit show at Cary's Koka Booth Amphitheatre on October 21. The event's generated funds will wholly go to the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund. In a concerted effort to also answer the call for aid, a variety of local artists are set to perform at the App Aid event in Raleigh on October 20, where all ticket sales and a portion of the bar profits will bolster recovery initiatives in the greater Appalachia.
Charlotte's Bank of America Stadium is equally stepping up by featuring a sold-out concert on October 26 titled "Concert for Carolina." The big names on the bill, like Eric Church and Sheryl Crow, are drawing a crowd virtually as well, with the livestream on Veeps.com being freely available for residents in affected areas and for a fee with an optional donation for others. The collected funds will support several non-profits, including Manna Foodbank and Samaritan's Purse, as detailed in the City of Raleigh announcement.
Additional events include one at Eno House Artist’s Den in Hillsborough on November 7, presenting acts like The Carrborators and Big Celtic Fun. The Kraken in Chapel Hill, moreover, has put together a concert on October 18, where the Will McBride Group among others played, with proceeds going straight to the WNC Red Cross.
