Residents in West Bloomfield Township and Farmington Hills in Oakland County were the targets of a hate-based incident over the weekend. Police are currently investigating after bags containing antisemitic material were discovered on the lawns of at least 200 homes. The disturbing discovery involved plastic bags filled with flyers bearing anti-Jewish rhetoric and weighted down with small pellets, as reported by Audacy.
In what has quickly turned into a joint investigation by local police departments, officials seek to identify the culprits. According to a resident's security camera footage, a dark-colored pickup truck was seen driving through the neighborhoods around 11:45 p.m. on Friday, raising the possibility of a connection to the incidents. Farmington Hills Police Chief Jeff King declared that actions such as these "will not be tolerated," as detailed by FOX 2 Detroit. The Farmington Hills department vows to use all available resources to prevent, investigate, and prosecute those responsible for what King termed "detestable activity."
Police are investigating, gathering evidence, and interviewing witnesses. They are working with state and federal law enforcement and the Anti-Defamation League to stop hate-based intimidation. Authorities urge the community to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
