Yesterday, at around 6:30 pm, officers were called to a scene on the 2800 block of Elmhurst Circle, where reports indicated a 58-year-old man was theatrically causing a disturbance, according to the Fairfield Police Department's social media post.
Two of the man's relatives managed to escape and took refuge at a neighbor's house before police arrived. Authorities revealed that the suspect, armed and dangerous, was making threats in front of the residence. This led to the deployment of the Bearcat, an armored vehicle designed for high-risk situations.
As police worked to defuse the situation, the man retreated into the house and aimed his gun at officers from a second-story window. This act triggered an officer-involved shooting, with officers firing at the suspect. The man, after being struck, withdrew from view, prompting the SWAT team to take control of the situation.
SWAT officers later found the suspect deceased inside the home, though the exact cause of death remains unconfirmed. The man's identity has not been released as authorities await notification of his family and continue their investigation into the incident.
Meanwhile, the two family members who had initially escaped were treated at a local hospital for injuries inflicted by the suspect. The Solano County District Attorney’s Major Crimes Task Force is now investigating the officer-involved shooting, with further details expected to emerge as the inquiry progresses.
