The release highlights that while these areas must adhere to this decree, other Ohio communities are encouraged but not required to similarly lower their flags to half-staff to mourn and simultaneously honor Hobson's public service legacy collectively.
While largely symbolic, the gesture serves to visibly unify the state in a period of collective mourning and reflection on the contributions of one of its long-standing legislators. Flags at the Vern Riffe Center and the Rhodes State Office Tower will also join in this statewide observance.
