In the late hours of October 10, Ventura County agricultural areas saw a break in their recent spate of burglaries with the arrest of a suspect caught in the very act of raiding a business on Doris Avenue. According to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, 35-year-old Erick Lee, a transient from Oxnard, triggered a burglary alarm that brought deputies to the scene, leading to his capture after Lee's attempted escape resulted in a short foot pursuit.
Lee's theft attempt, thwarted around 11:30 pm, left behind a trail of kicked doors and damaged locks, however, deputies were able to promptly pinpoint the areas breached and the items intended for theft, with collaboration from a local party responding to the alarm. The news release detailed how Lee was not only arrested for burglary but also charged with vandalism, resisting arrest, and drug-related offenses.
Continuing their investigation into the incident the following day, law enforcement officers discovered the burglary tools used by Lee. The Sheriff’s Office stressed the importance of security measures such as alarms, cameras, and lights, which in this case, played a pivotal role in the culprit's arrest.
