The City of Palmdale has announced a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new sports field at Sam Yellen Park, ready to usher in a fresh era of local sports and community engagement. Kicking off at 6 p.m. on November 1, the event promises to be a home run for community spirit, as indicated in a press release by the City of Palmdale. Mayor Austin Bishop expressed his thrill over the opening and revealed a noteworthy sponsorship of AV ALTA FC Youth Academy, in a statement obtained by the City of Palmdale's website.
Designed for soccer and various recreational activities, the field symbolizes a $19 million investment and a commitment to bolstering local youth sports and active lifestyles, as per the City of Palmdale. After the ribbon is snipped, AV ALTA FC Youth Academy is set to inaugurate the field with a practice session, a visionary step to foment the dreams of local athletes, gifted to travel no further than their backyard for quality training, according to AV ALTA FC Founder John Smelzer.
"A famous man once said, 'If you build it, they will come,'" stated Mayor Pro Tem Richard J. Loa about the new field, which now exists as a gathering spot for families and friends and a place for fostering sportsmanship between youth teams. The ceremony is slated to include remarks from city officials, Assemblymember Juan Carrillo, and John Smelzer, all ready to share their aspirations for Palmdale's youth in a brief program, according to the City of Palmdale.
