
In an event unfolding in Philadelphia's 16th District, 36-year-old Terrell Jones was pronounced deceased following a shooting incident inside a local candy store. According to the Philadelphia Police Department, officers responded to the scene at the 800 block of North 40th Street last Wednesday, October 2, at approximately 10:11 p.m., where they found Jones with multiple gunshot wounds.
The preliminary investigation by the authorities suggests an attempted robbery gone violently awry - with two male offenders opening fire on Jones, who retaliated, shooting back before succumbing to his injuries; medics from the Philadelphia Fire Department arrived and pronounced Jones deceased at 10:24 p.m. The shootout had another victim, a 17-year old who was involved in the crime, found on the 700 block of Preston Street, suffering from gunshot wounds to his arm and chest he was subsequently transported to Penn-Presbyterian Medical Center, where he remains in stable condition.
In a bid to escape, the suspects in question fled the scene in a blue vehicle however their attempt led to a collision with a SEPTA bus near the intersection of 41st and Brown Streets, thereafter they made their escape on foot. The investigation continues as Philadelphia Police seek information that could assist in apprehending the culprits and are offering a $20,000 reward for details that lead to an arrest and conviction.
