The Philadelphia Police Department is actively seeking the public's assistance to locate a man linked to the fatal hit-and-run that claimed the life of a teenager in West Philadelphia. The accident, which occurred on September 26, left 14-year-old Dawn Watson dead while she was crossing the street with her mother. Police have named 40-year-old Marvin Wicker as the suspect wanted on charges of Homicide by Vehicle and related offenses. According to FOX 29, Wicker may currently be driving a silver, two-door Chevrolet Cobalt and should be considered armed and dangerous.
In the days following the incident, on September 30, authorities were able to recover the vehicle involved, a 2011 Mercedes Benz E350, believed to be driven by Wicker at the time of the crash. This development was reported by NBC Philadelphia. Wicker is known to frequent West Philadelphia, particularly the 5900 block of Haverford Avenue. Investigators are urging anyone with information to come forward and to not approach Wicker directly.
A growing memorial continues to pay tribute near the intersection of 66th and Haverford, where the incident took place. Surveillance video provided by a nearby business, according to FOX 29.
The Philadelphia Police Department has reinforced their call for public vigilance in the wake of this tragedy. Echoing this request, 6ABC reported that the Police are encouraging anyone with information to call or text them at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
