
The Metropolitan Police Department is calling for witnesses in the aftermath of a deadly shooting in Southeast D.C. that claimed the life of a teenager and left another person critically injured. The incident occurred last Friday afternoon in the Langston Place area.
Officers from the Seventh District were dispatched to the 2800 block of Langston Place, Southeast around 4:16 p.m. last Friday, following reports of gunfire, as detailed in a press release by the MPD. Upon arrival, they discovered two individuals with gunshot wounds—an adult male and 16-year-old Darren Johnson, who later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital. The second victim is currently receiving medical treatment for critical injuries sustained during the event.
Darren Johnson, a Southeast D.C. resident, has been identified as the juvenile victim in the deadly shooting. In response, the MPD is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the crime.
