The National Weather Service in Raleigh issued a Special Weather Statement early this morning, warning residents of central NC about the prevalence of dense fog in the region. According to the NWS report, visibility in some areas may drop to a quarter-mile or less, presenting potential hazards for the morning commute.
The affected areas include, but are not limited to, cities such as Raleigh, Greensboro, and Fayetteville. The NWS urges motorists to exercise caution, "slow down and leave extra distance ahead of you in case a sudden stop is needed." The fog is expected to lift and visibilities improve between 9 and 10 am, easing conditions for travelers.
As for the larger weather outlook, residents can anticipate a transition from cloudy to sunny skies today with a high nearing 80 degrees, continuing a pattern of clear and pleasantly warm early autumn days. Light east wind will be accompanying the weather change, ensuring a mild atmosphere throughout the region.
The evening will carry on the trend of clear conditions with tonight's forecast predicting mostly clear skies, calming winds, and a low around 62 degrees. The consistently calm wind will persist into the weekend, with sunny forecasts and comfortable highs extending into the beginning of next week.
