As Raleigh's youth explore career development, a new initiative called Creds2Careers provides a clear path to gain work experience and develop skills needed in today’s job market. The program is aimed at 16 to 24-year-olds who are either entering the workforce or looking to change their early careers, as stated by the City of Raleigh.

The program starts with a 3-week in-person workforce development training camp, designed to help participants understand employer expectations. The next phase includes a paid internship with an industry partner, offering valuable real-world experience. Finally, the initiative supports ongoing growth through enrollment in a postsecondary training program, reinforcing the skills gained earlier. Each step acts as an important rung on the ladder to career success for those with little or no work experience, who often find entering the job market challenging, as reported by the City of Raleigh.

Interested in the Creds2Careers program can attend an informational meeting at Sanderford Road Park on Wednesday, at 6 p.m. The program focuses on practical training and early career planning for young adults to help them succeed in today’s job market. It is free, making it accessible to those with financial barriers. Applicants must be between 16 and 24 years old and able to enroll in NCWorks NextGen, which supports young adults in improving their job prospects. For more details or to apply, visit the Raleigh Parks and Recreation page, according to the City of Raleigh.
