The Raleigh-Wake Emergency Communications Center is now accepting applications for its upcoming 911 Training Academy. From September 30 to October 20, aspiring lifesavers can submit their applications to prepare for a journey that begins on January 9, 2025. This comprehensive 12 to 14-week training program will equip them to handle a wide range of emergencies, as stated by the City of Raleigh.
According to the details shared through the City of Raleigh's announcement, after a careful review of the applications, candidates who meet the strict criteria will advance to the essential employment skills test. Using CritiCall software, the test evaluates key skills, including data entry, typing speed, and accuracy. It also assesses spelling and reading comprehension, along with other important abilities needed for the role.
After the test, qualified candidates will have the chance for a virtual interview in November 2024 with an expert panel ready to evaluate their potential. This is a step closer to an important role—an invitation to serve the community. Candidates recommended for the role will undergo a psychological evaluation to ensure they can handle the job’s demands. The final steps include a criminal background check, drug test, and physical exam, as mentioned by City of Raleigh.
Those in the City of Raleigh area who are passionate about helping others and seeking a meaningful career have a limited opportunity to step forward. If you’re interested, consider applying to join Raleigh's front line in emergency response.
