Ohio Senator and Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance will hit the Pittsburgh campaign trail this Thursday. The campaign event, set to take place at The Pennsylvanian on Liberty Avenue, is scheduled to start at 12:30 p.m., with doors opening earlier at 10:30 a.m. As CBS News detailed, Pittsburghers interested in attending can find tickets through an online link. Vance has visited the Pittsburgh area multiple times, underscoring its significance as a campaign battleground.
Previously, associating with former President Trump, Vance addressed veterans at an invite-only event at Lower Burrell's VFW Post 92 in August. According to WPXI, he also visited the Monroeville Convention Center and returned to Butler County, where in July, a near-fatal attempt on Trump's life occurred. The Pennsylvanian event details, however, remain vague on Vance's talking points, aside from hinting at an opposition to the current administration's economic policies.
On the other side of the political aisle, Democratic vice presidential candidate Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota will rally his supporters in Pittsburgh on Tuesday. CBS News reported that Walz's day in the western part of the Keystone State would commence with two-afternoon events in Lawrence and Butler counties. He plans to conclude with a rally in Pittsburgh, maintaining the tug-of-war for voters' loyalties in this fiercely contested region.
As the campaign intensifies, recent polling by CBS News suggests a nail-biter. Vice President Kamala Harris holds onto a slender advantage over Trump—51% to 48% among likely voters nationwide. The margin narrows even further in battleground states, standing at 50% to 49%.
