The Round Rock Public Library (RRPL) has been selected as one of the recipients of the 2024 Texas Book Festival Collections Enhancement Grant, a prestigious recognition aimed at enhancing library collections across the state of Texas. The grant is particularly aimed at fortifying the diversity and span of literature available in community libraries, and RRPL is set to utilize the funds to bolster its Large Print collection, which serves those with low vision or visual impairments, as reported by the City of Round Rock.
This initiative comes as part of the library's commitment to its Library At Home program, geared to assist Round Rock residents who are unable to physically access the library due to illness, injury, or disability. As per the information provided by the City of Round Rock, the program is designed to inclusively cater to individuals confined to their homes, and also extends to those with inadequate transportation, ensuring they do not miss to actively participate in the communal exchange of knowledge and literature.
The Library At Home program, established in 2021, embodies a revolutionary approach to public services, representing a significant step forward in RRPL's pursuit of ensuring accessibility and convenience for all its patrons. The addition of Large Print books, facilitated by the grant, is expected to greatly enhance the quality of service for participants with visual limitations, thereby enriching their reading experience and accessibility to a broader range of literature.
