The Bexar County Sheriff's Office is ramping up efforts to locate a suspect involved in a violent hit-and-run incident that left an off-duty deputy with serious injuries. Last Thursday, at St. Matthew Catholic School located in the 10700 block of Wurzbach Road, Adrian David Arellano, age 27, allegedly struck the deputy who was managing school traffic at approximately 8 a.m., as confirmed by KSAT.

Following the collision, which resulted in the deputy being thrown atop the suspect's vehicle, a silver Ford Escape, Arellano reportedly continued to drive with the deputy clinging on, this was reported by FOX San Antonio, concerned citizens attempted to intervene by putting their vehicle in front of Arellano's path to stop further movement the deputy then fell from the car, sustaining a broken foot and multiple head injuries in the process.

The sheriff's office stated that, after the vehicle stopped, Arellano fled the scene on foot, last seen cutting through the Oak Terrace Apartments on the Northwest Side of San Antonio. Witnesses observed him exiting the vehicle and entering the apartment complex, as noted by the surveillance footage obtained by authorities that displayed Arellano leaping over a fence that divides the apartments from a Motel 6, according to the sheriff's office.

Further footage captured the suspect discarding his shirt and black pants, then entering the Motel 6 lobby donned in a white tank top and red shorts before eluding authorities, the BCSO mentioned the likelihood of Arellano habitually visiting areas near Wurzbach Road and Interstate 10 and the Marbach Road and Loop 410 area, as detailed by KSAT.
