Maria was diagnosed with ovarian cancer 16 years ago, a disease that has recurring and has metastasized to her brain eight times. In a statement obtained by FOX San Antonio, Maria expressed, "Probably just be at home being very sad in the sense that I’m not doing anything that I couldn’t do much and it would just be a totally different me if it wasn’t for Thrivewell." The support from Thrivewell seems to have provided a beacon of hope amidst the struggles that come with such a relentless illness.
Gregg Gonzales has witnessed his wife's transformation firsthand, attributing much of it to the comprehensive care and support provided by Thrivewell. "It’s a lot of things I see benefit her in a way that there’s a glow in her eyes when she’s done it’s a lot better is helps her emotionally mentally and physically," Gregg told FOX San Antonio. Despite being unable to have a family, the Gonzaleses have found a sense of belonging within the Thrivewell community. As Gregg described to News 4 San Antonio, "You don’t know what to expect you don’t know where to get help from all you know is the bills are coming this doctor is this therapy going to work and you’re on your own with Thrivewell it’s been a benefit that you get in contact with others they have resources to help out." This sense of community has become a critical lifeline for the couple as they navigate the complexities of cancer treatment.

Maria highlighted the personalized care she receives, telling FOX San Antonio, "Just yesterday they knew Monday was not my best day so I got a text this morning to see how I was doing and it’s so helpful and so beneficial because being able to talk to other survivors is different."
