The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has warned San Antonio residents about high ozone levels. Today will be the ninth Ozone Action Day of the year, due to conditions that could lead to increased air pollution, according to the City of San Antonio official website.
Ozone levels will rise, posing a risk to lungs. Young children, the elderly, and those with respiratory issues are advised to stay indoors, preferably in air-conditioned spaces. Metro Health emphasizes that people with asthma or breathing difficulties should avoid outdoor activities to protect their health.
Metro Health urges residents and businesses to take action to reduce pollution during high ozone days. Suggested actions include refueling cars after 6 p.m., avoiding drive-thrus, setting thermostats a bit higher, and reducing car idling. Carpooling, using public transport, and combining errands can also help make a positive impact.
