
Last Saturday in San Rafael, a routine traffic stop for a stolen registration sticker unraveled into a significant drug bust, uncovering a cache of cocaine and fentanyl. According to the San Rafael Police Department, an officer on patrol noticed the vehicle's sticker did not match its expired registration status, prompting the subsequent stop and investigation.

Just after midnight on Saturday, an SRPD Officer observed a vehicle and learned that the registration sticker was stolen. The vehicle’s registration was actually expired.

Upon making contact, the officer's keen observation led to the discovery of an open alcohol container and drug paraphernalia. The driver and passenger were both detained, and officers found a hefty amount of narcotics during their search. However, the passenger, later identified as the vehicle's registered owner, was tied to the contraband and the stolen registration sticker. The driver, having no connection to the narcotics or the sticker, was subsequently released from custody.
Charges levied against the passenger included transporting narcotics for sale, possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a stolen registration.
