A Santa Ana man has been taken into custody in connection with the suspicious death of his girlfriend. The Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD) revealed that on Wednesday afternoon, around 2:30 p.m., they were dispatched to an apartment complex on the 1000 block of W. MacArthur Boulevard following a report of a suspicious death. Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of 29-year-old Amy Magpoc in a bedroom. The Orange County Coroner's Office classified the death as a homicide, as stated in an Instagram post by the Santa Ana PD.
Daniel Lynch, the 33-year-old boyfriend of the deceased, was arrested in San Bernardino after being identified as the suspect during the investigation. "During the investigation, officers learned from witness interviews that Amy resided at the location with her boyfriend," SAPD informed, evidence that led to Lynch being identified and subsequently apprehended.
CBS Los Angeles reported Lynch was "taken into custody without incident" and has since been booked on suspicion of murder. Efforts to fully unravel the context of this tragedy are ongoing, as detectives encourage anyone with pertinent information to come forward.
