Santa Monica's Big Blue Bus is opening its new off-leash dog run, the Little Blue Dog Run, with a community celebration on November 9, said to be free and open to all from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Big Blue Bus headquarters (1660 7th St.), details coming directly from the city's announcement.
The Little Blue Dog Run is part of a larger project to revitalize and inject life into an area near the transportation hub, and it's been crafted with the collaboration of the city’s Public Works Department, Ramco as the general contractor, and SWA Group providing the architectural vision the space includes fenced areas for dogs to run, drinking fountains specially designed for dogs, shady trees, and a picnic space where humans can rest while their canine companions play, and it is also expected to enhance safety with new lighting and security cameras. "This project aligns with our mission to improve the lives of those we serve by promoting connection, access, and mobility, while also contributing to a clean and safe Santa Monica," Department of Transportation Director Anuj Gupta said, in a statement published by the City of Santa Monica.
The Nov. 9 celebration will not only feature the usual ribbon-cutting but also dog safety demos and agility showcases, as well as introductions to adoptable dogs from the Santa Monica Animal Shelter. Attendees to the festivities may stow away free exam vouchers from the Santa Monica Veterinary Group and get their dogs involved in a "Doggie Fall Fashion Show," as per the City of Santa Monica.
