A fire engulfed a residential structure yesterday in Santa Rosa, causing significant structural damage and forcing the evacuation of at least one resident. According to a Facebook post by the Santa Rosa Fire Department, the incident occurred at a single-story house on 1709 Brandee Lane in the Coffee Park neighborhood.

Multiple calls to 911 reported seeing smoke and hearing explosions at around noon. The first responders from the Santa Rosa Fire Department reached the scene in under four minutes, finding the building aflame, with the front garage door especially affected. A vehicle in the driveway was also caught in the fire. The Santa Rosa Fire Department's report stated, "Heavy smoke was coming from the roof and front door of the house." In their efforts, firefighters launched an aggressive attack on the blaze, utilizing multiple hose lines. In contrast, others entered the interior to combat the fire that had spread inside the residence and into the attic.

To contain the fire, controlled within approximately 30 minutes, firefighters created ventilation holes in the roof to release super-heated toxic gases and smoke. A significant smoke column rising from the site could be seen across the Santa Rosa Valley. Fire crews stayed on the scene for around 3 hours, focusing on extinguishing the fire and dealing with the metal roofing, which hindered their efforts.

The household's sole occupant at the time was alerted to the fire after hearing noises in the garage. Upon discovering the fire, they quickly retrieved their dog and took refuge on a neighbor's lawn. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, but it is being treated as accidental. Damages are estimated at $200,000 for the structure and $100,000 for the contents. The resident is now seeking temporary shelter, and the dwelling is deemed uninhabitable due to the damage inflicted by the blaze.
