On Sunday, During a routine patrol, Santa Rosa police officers intercepted a suspected commercial burglary at a local motorcycle dealership, Factory Powersports. An officer noticed something amiss when a white van, parked suspiciously near the store on College Avenue, suddenly sped away upon the officer's approach. According to the Santa Rosa Police Department's Facebook page, the police zeroed in on this vehicle given the unusual timing, nearly 3 AM when businesses like Factory Powersports are dark and dormant.
In the chase, the van with doors that hadn't been properly shut flapped behind, and the police caught glimpses of the stolen merchandise, two dirt bikes. As the pursuit spilled onto southbound Highway 101, the driver, later identified as 22-year-old Michael Cisneros of Oakland, continued his high-speed flight until he yielded at Golf Course Drive in Rohnert Park, where the arrest transpired without resistance.
Upon examination of the vehicle's contents, law enforcement confirmed that the two dirt bikes had been removed illicitly from Factory Powersports through a breach manifested as an eight-foot-square window now absent its glass. The police department's statement informed that Cisneros was charged on several counts, including commercial burglary (459 PC), vehicle theft (10851(a) VC), and evading a peace officer (2800.2(a) VC).
Following the incident, the Santa Rosa Police Department opened case number 24-12088 and processed Cisneros into Sonoma County Jail.
