Rigoberto Ochoa Ayala, a 25-year-old Santa Rosa resident and the subject of the probation search, was discovered in possession of a .40 caliber Poly-80 handgun, along with ammunition and several magazines, including one high-capacity magazine.

Having found the contraband during the search, the Santa Rosa Police swiftly took Ochoa Ayala into custody. After his arrest, Ochoa Ayala now faces a slew of charges, including felonies for both concealed firearm possession and for carrying a loaded handgun not registered in his name, as well as a probation violation and a misdemeanor related to drug possession. 

The charges pressed against him, as shared by the Santa Rosa Police, include PC 25400(a)(1)- Possession of a loaded, concealed firearm in a vehicle, PC 25850(c)(6)- Carry a loaded handgun (not the registered owner), PC 1203.2- Violation of probation, H&S 11351- Possession of controlled substance for sale.

The Santa Rosa Police Department's Special Enforcement Team is a specialized unit established to directly address the increase in illegal firearm possession. They focused on disrupting the gun violence plaguing the City of Santa Rosa.
