As the holiday season approaches, Seattle Center is preparing to welcome residents and visitors with the return of Winterfest, presented by Symetra. Starting November 29, this annual event will transform the area into a festive hub of activities for five weeks. "We’re excited to bring back Winterfest, where families and friends can make lasting memories together in the heart of Seattle," said Marc Jones, Director of Marketing and Strategic Partnerships for Seattle Center, in an announcement by the Seattle government website.
Winterfest will have something for everyone, starting with the Symetra Ice Spectacle on opening day. Visitors can watch expert ice carving, enjoy carolers, and see live performances at no cost or for a low fee. The day's highlights include the Winter Train & Village and the Winterfest World Bazaar Presented by Festál, offering a global shopping experience from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Trinity Parker, Chief Marketing Officer at Symetra, expressed excitement for the festivities, saying, "These magical five weeks are brimming with seasonal spirit and truly offer something for everyone. It’s a wonderful opportunity to come together and celebrate the holidays with our entire community," in the same announcement.
This year's Winterfest will feature contributions from Climate Pledge Arena for the holiday lights display, while the Seattle Christmas Market will offer a European-style outdoor holiday village. Those seeking a cultural experience can explore handcrafted goods at the free Winterfest World Bazaar, showcasing Seattle's diverse communities. The season will also include performances like Pacific Northwest Ballet's George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker®, along with other renowned shows leading up to New Year's Eve.
The holiday celebration will culminate with Seattle's iconic New Year's Eve fireworks and drone show at the Needle. Leading up to this event, there will be weekend visits from Santa Claus, Kraken games at Climate Pledge Arena, and various cultural and sporting events. Visitors are invited to welcome 2025 with a live performance by the Blue Wave Band and a Fountain of Light show. For updates on Winterfest, interested parties can visit Seattle Center’s website or follow their social media pages, as noted by Center Spotlight.
Beyond the celebrations, Seattle Center also contributes to the city by providing maintenance and public safety services for the new Waterfront Park. In partnership with the nonprofit Friends of Waterfront Seattle, it aims to enhance community engagement through various recreational and cultural programs.
