The San Fernando Valley has been hit by a series of fires that authorities believe may have been deliberately set. These incidents which all took place overnight have sparked an investigation by police and fire officials. According to KTLA, a pickup truck was found engulfed in flames in front of the Sherman Oaks Martin Pollard Branch Library early Monday morning. The vehicle was badly damaged, with the fire charring the interior to ruins before firefighters could extinguish the blaze.

On the same night, less than a mile away, another fire broke out, this time at a sign business located at 13800 Ventura Boulevard. The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that the incident, occurring at 2:07 a.m., involved an "outside fire" spreading into a commercial building. Despite the late hour, firefighters managed to contain and extinguish the fire in about 30 minutes, but not before it had inflicted significant damage to the rear and interior of the structure, as detailed in a release by LAFD.

Additional reports of fire-related activity in the area have surfaced. The news service KNN has provided footage showing the results of several other vehicle fires located behind an apartment complex, including an SUV that suffered extensive damage. Another rubbish fire on Ventura Boulevard was also reported around the same time as the commercial building fire, hinting at a pattern that has not gone unnoticed by authorities.

A spokesperson from the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to KTLA that officers responded to a call in the 14200 block of Moorpark Street at 1:48 a.m., with the purpose of searching for a potential arson suspect, after fire crews had made the request, early on Monday. Despite the reported efforts, the police have yet to identify or apprehend any suspects relating to these incidents. Fortunately, no injuries have been linked to any of the fires at this time.

The LAPD and fire investigators are continuing to delve into these events that have rattled a normally peaceful stretch of the Valley. As the investigation persists, officials have not yet released additional details on the three vehicle fires or the fire that damaged the commercial building.
