Seven individuals who not only met but exceeded expectations in their roles were honored today with the Governor’s Awards for Excellence. The ceremony, held at the North Carolina Museum of History, recognized the hard work and dedication of these state employees from various departments and university institutions within the North Carolina system, according to the Office of State Human Resources.
In the words of Governor Roy Cooper, "Every year, I am astounded by the extraordinary work done by my fellow state employees who are awarded the Governor’s Award for Excellence.” The governor, apparently overwhelmed with pride, went on to congratulate the awardees on their "well-deserved award," noting the impact they have on the state and its people. Their contributed work spans across categories like Customer Service, Efficiency and Innovation, Human Relations, among others, as stated by the Office of State Human Resources.
Barbara Gibson, the State Human Resources Director, also emphasized the significance of the recipients’ contributions. "This year’s recipients enact the changes they want to see in their communities to make our state a better place. Their commitment to service is a reflection of the values and culture we seek out in our agencies and our state,” she stated, this shows the importance of being actively involved in community improvement and representing state values, as reported by the Office of State Human Resources.
The event, hosted by WRAL anchor Debra Morgan, celebrated the Governor’s Awards for Excellence with speeches from important figures, including Governor Cooper. Award winners, recognized for their work in Public Service and Safety and Heroism, enjoyed a luncheon at the Executive Mansion before receiving their awards at the Museum's auditorium. Each winner's achievements will be featured on the Office of State Human Resources website. The 2024 Governor’s Awards for Excellence showcase the dedication of individuals like Bradley Kenobi, Donald Bullock, and Jeffrey Kaplan to improving North Carolina, as per the Office of State Human Resources.
