Tragedy has struck Southeast DC as the Metropolitan Police Department investigates a homicide that claimed the life of a 22-year-old man. The incident occurred yesterday in the 4200 block of 6th Street Southeast, according to the MPD press release.
Members of the Seventh District responded to reports of a shooting around 4:09 p.m. When they arrived, they found Asonta Dunmore, a resident of Southeast, suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services, Dunmore was pronounced dead at the scene, as reported by the MPD.
The investigation into the homicide is ongoing. Police are asking for anyone with information about the shooting to come forward. A monetary incentive is being offered, with the MPD offering up to $25,000 to anyone whose information leads to an arrest and conviction of the responsible parties.
